There is a hobby of mine I only do on holidays: genealogy. I track down my family history, and my ancestors through civil record registries, parish records, etc. It's like a detective novel: you have to hunt down every single clue in order to find out more about your ancestors. I did a lot of progress last week, after 2 full days at the 'Registro Civil" of Santiago. I also met with a number of distinguished members of the Chilean Genealogy Institute over dinner: I'm here with Cristian Mujica, Pablo Blanco, Marietta Jimenez, José Manuel de la Cerda and Fernando Moreno. That was great, as you seldom can talk to someone about your own obscure hobbies. This was a great moment and fantastic folks to talk to.
I also met a number of remote family members I had never met before: for some of them we only relate through a couple in the mid-19th century !
