Done. The French Socialists had their primaries tonight, and a woman, Ségolène Royal, is for the first time elected by Socialist party members to represent Socialists to the Presidential election.
I can't vote. Never have. Sucks.
Nevertheless, I absolutely couln't vote, even virtually, for the other guy in front, representing personal ambition and the reign of terror that W. tried to impose on us all. Years in government saying he has to wait to be the boss to start acting. Or using immigrants as scapegoats. And his program is a collection of populist propaganda.
The Centrist guy is nice, but really does not have the stamina to be Head of State (yet).
I believe the challenge to be really great: the other guy is a political animal, he knows how to triple-cross, fool the media, and get elected. And he has access to so much confidential information from where he is sitting right now. He knows that the campaign will be won on looks, on media management. Not on ideas, nor a political program.
I'm 35. I have 2 kids. I believe we ought to prepare for them a better world. That's our responsibility: education, climate control, social justice, opportunity for each one of us, European integration. It's called ideas, it's called ambition for a country, ambition for a nation, not ambition for oneself, it's called a political program.
If I were allowed to vote, I'd vote Ségolène Royal.
