"On y croit, nom de Dieu, on y croit"

Whom better than French journalist John-Paul Lepers could portray the new generation of TV 3.0 coming up ? Created with a phone, a camera, a computer, and brodcasted on any screen through the Internet ?

John-Paul announces here the launch of www.latelelibre.fr on January 24th.

Interviewed on Jeff Pulver's VON TV

Thanks Jennie for this interview. We were all starting to get bored, repeating the same things over and over again at LeWeb3 recently. Hence, I did a little bit of a stand-up comedy act here, improviding some European Humor :)

Interviewed on the Silicon Show

Long discussion with the team of Bear's Tech for the Silicon Show on the online video market, and on what has happened in the last 12 months; also a long discussion on our business model at vpod.tv. It's unfortunately in French, and I do look a bit tired...

On Thomas Blard's decideur.tv with Gilles Babinet

Amusing short interview taped by Thomas Blard just before the France:Argentina rugby match on saturday. He was trying to get two French competing video platforms in front of the camera. As you know, our friendship with Gilles started way before he sold Musiwave.

Interviewed on Le Blog de Bézier

I dropped by the first live Billaut Show this week in Paris, at the Têtes Brulées cafe. More on that some other day, but you can read reports here. Thierry Bézier dropped by at the end, and organized a little impromptu interview about our vpod.tv launch.

I'll let you watch here on his own site: www.leblogdebezier.com

Interviewed on the Billaut Show

French Internet "papy", Jean-Michel Billaut dropped by my office last week (on saturday), just before we started our marathon of migrating our servers to a new version, and opened up the vpod.tv service minutes before 8am, San Francisco time, on Monday.

Here he shows you a tip on how to have good lights in your videos, shows our water cooler / coffee machine combination, and then we went on to talk for about 45 minutes about our service, our business model, and what I've been up to in the past 12 months.

It's in French: I'll gladly redo it with anyone who wants to interview me in another language.

Virtual hug for the MobuzzTV team

Picture_18_1

Mobuzztv.com got hacked yesterday. Suckers erased all of their data. Sorry to read that Anil, but keep up the spirit: if you weren't doing anything interesting, no one would get at you.

The note on their site today:

"We got attacked :-(

At 8am yesterday someone hacked our servers and wiped all of our data. Yes, they deleted the platform, the video archives (all 72 gigs !), and the websites (English and Spanish).

Thank god for backups!

We're back on track with this page and we're working hard to upload and restore everything back to our normal.

The first thing to go back will be the feeds and hopefully the rest should be back up by the end of today.

Mobuzz will be fully restored over the week-end .

Pocho, Karina, Iria and myself are working as fast as we can to get today´s show up and runnning . If any of you have cool videos or would like to create a Mobuzz show for this week-end pls send it to us.

Cheers folks --Anil"

Presenting at the Monaco Media Forum later this month

Picture_4

Later this month, I will be speaking in a general session panels (friday 20) at the Monaco Media Forum. This is an invitation-only media event, put together by Publicis Events Worldwide, with a large number of executives from the media world, with a small twist of entrepreneurs, VCs and the like.

My panel, just after the opening session keynote will focus on
“New Waves”
: Sharply focused presentations from the leading edge of digital  innovation.
. Jason Kerkorian CTO Slingmedia
. Suranga  Chandratillake, Founder & CTO Blinkx
. Michelle Wu, CEO MediaZone.
. Rodrigo Sepulveda Schulz, CEO vpod.tv.

Although we haven't yet talked to each other on how we want to structure this panel, my guess is that Slingmedia will talk about place, time and device shifting of media consumption; Blinkx will talk about how to find the proper content in this massive arrival on new online video; Mediazone will tell us about their experience with bringing TV content online; and vpod.tv will probably talk about quality user generated content and the monetization of it.

We have about 2 weeks to go before the event, so I'd love your suggestions for more examples about user-generated video monetization; In particular I'd appreciate great pointers to great original content that we haven't all yet seen. It will make the session more interactive, and hopefully provoke more reactions. Use the comments below for feedback. Thanks.

I'm at Apple Expo this week

Blogbanner3

Lucky me... I'll be at Apple Expo this whole week, with the good fortune of being an insider... I've got an exhibitor badge (hey... and a booth as well at the Business & Innovation Pavillion with Apple :), and a press badge. It's going to be fun to discover this new world of glossy and well designed computers.

Have I told you I'm really really liking my new MacBook Pro ? Very handy. Except that I don't have any wrinkle left on my left hand. Ironed out with the heat.

If you're interested in seeing what's happening on the show floor, check this new special blog: http://appleexpo.vpod.tv. I'll be posting there regularly.
