What 3G price plan for France?

N90

It seems Santa Claus might be coming in a bit early this year, with a little help from UPS (maybe tomorrow). Yep, a brand new Nokia N90. It seems I needed one to be able to moblog / vpod / videoblog from anywhere like all the others (no names here ).

Unfortunately I have a very old price plan (it does have GPRS though, and they say EDGE as well, although I don’t know how to test it) with Coriolis Telecom on the Orange network (hotline by SFR – weird). So since I will be needing more mobile bandwidth, and since the N90 is UMTS/3G enabled, what should I do (Smooth? <Y>? Codor?):

  • get a 3G subscription plan from SFR (they have a  8 euro/month plan, but for only 50Mo and 1 hour – I’m going to explode that !)
  • get an Orange 3G subscription?
  • go to an MVNO (any supporting 3G yet?)
  • any other fancy idea?

I want to be able to connect with my laptop to the Internet, using the phone as a modem (bluetooth or cable), and I want a flat rate on either time or volume (my current  billing rate is over 200 euros/month for 8% voice and some GPRS, so 8 euros is clearly not good enough). I also want to be able to vpodblog faster.

Where should I go, what should I get, which price plan? the cheaper? the faster? (France only answers please…)

(keep in mind I’m keeping my old phone line, and that I already have the new 3G phone coming in shortly…)
