WiKi startup Jostpot raising VC money - expect SocialText to do the same

From the NYT Deal newsletter:
"A new Palo Alto start-up called JotSpot launches today, making available a Web-based product that it says will take emerging Wiki technology to a new level. A Wiki, in its simplest form, is a Web site that can be written upon and edited by multiple users at once. The company has been working on its product for just over a year, and recently raised $5.2 million from Silicon Valley venture firms Mayfield and Redpoint Ventures. "
I've been trying to setup a wiki myself in the past few days: it's on http://sepulveda.dyndns.org. It's not yet for the faint of heart. Ross from Socialtext suggested I should try Kwiki. I couldn't install it, even with support from the mavens at #kwiki on IRC.
Hence, we badly need new players to simplify the Wiki space for consumers.
SocialText recently got funds ($500K) from business angels (even people we know :o)). Expect them to go for a much bigger round real quick. Siliconvalley.com has more background information on the 2 companies. Marc Canter blogs about it, straight from the Web 2.0 conference. As he puts it: "totally fucking coolio"
Don't understand the power of Wikis ? Try looking on the GmailWiki set up by users to share tips & tricks on gmail... You'll get the point.
People, start playing with Wikis, blogs, RSS, and A-P-Is for web services between online platforms. The web is the computer.
